If you see “Microphone is missing” in your interview, you likely denied microphone access when your browser asked for permission. Browsers won’t ask again once you’ve denied — you need to manually enable it in settings.
With Safari open, click Safari in the top menu bar, then click Settings (or Preferences on older macOS).
2
Click the Websites tab
In the Settings window, click the Websites tab at the top.
3
Select Microphone in the left sidebar
On the left side, scroll down and click Microphone.
4
Find the Rehearsals website and change to 'Allow'
Look for the Rehearsals website in the list on the right. Click the dropdown next to it and select Allow. If you don’t see it listed, change the dropdown at the bottom that says “When visiting other websites” to Ask or Allow.
5
Refresh the interview page
Go back to the interview tab and refresh the page (Command + R).
I followed the steps but still see 'Microphone is missing'
Try these additional steps:
Restart your browser — Close it completely and reopen
Restart your device — Sometimes permissions need a restart to take effect
Check if another app is using the mic — Close Zoom, FaceTime, or other video apps
Try the interview on your phone — Mobile often works more reliably
I'm on a work computer with restrictions
Corporate devices often have microphone access locked down by IT. Try:
Use your personal phone — Open the interview link on your own device
Ask IT — They may be able to whitelist the Rehearsals website
I'm using an in-app browser
