# Browser Compatibility

> Which browsers work for Rehearsals interviews

## Supported Browsers

Rehearsals interviews require **Safari** or **Chrome** for the best experience with real-time audio and video.

  **Other browsers are not supported.** Firefox, Edge, Opera, and other browsers may not work correctly with real-time audio features. Please use Chrome or Safari.

## ⚠️ In-App Browsers

<Warning>
  **In-app browsers often cause problems!** If you opened the interview link from inside an app like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, or email, you may be using an in-app browser with limited functionality.

### How to Tell If You're in an In-App Browser

Signs you're in an in-app browser:

* The URL bar looks different than usual
* You see the app's header/controls at the top
* You can't access browser settings or bookmarks
* Microphone permissions don't work

### How to Open in Safari or Chrome

    **From Instagram/TikTok/Facebook:**

    1. Tap the **⋯** (three dots) menu
    2. Select **"Open in Safari"** or **"Open in Browser"**

    **From Email (Gmail/Mail app):**

    1. Tap and hold the link
    2. Select **"Open in Safari"**

    **Alternative:**

    1. Copy the interview link
    2. Open Safari
    3. Paste the link in the address bar

### Common In-App Browser Issues

| Issue                      | Solution                 |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| Microphone won't work      | Open in Safari or Chrome |
| Camera shows black         | Open in Safari or Chrome |
| Page looks broken          | Open in Safari or Chrome |
| "Permission denied" errors | Open in Safari or Chrome |

## Performance Suggestions

On slower devices, you may see a suggestion to switch to your phone. This happens when:

* Your device is running low on resources
* Many background apps are open
* Your device is an older model

    * Or open the interview link on your phone
    * Modern phones handle real-time audio very well

    **Option 3: Try anyway**

    * Dismiss the suggestion
    * Continue with the interview
    * If issues occur, switch to phone
